Mic's Picks: Belmont Stakes (Click Here to Leave/Read Comments)

Lead-Up To 142nd Running Of The Belmont Stakes
1. Ice Box - Probably the most talented horse to participate in a Triple Crown race this year. Ice Box turned in a strong performance at this years Kentucky Derby but had to deal with traffic problems and even though he had to be steadied and got blocked twice during the race, still managed to finish strong. Ice Box is bread for the 1.5 mile race and is a heavy favorite right now.

2. Fly Down - Trained by Nick Zito, Fly Down recently won a Graded stakes race over this track and looked very strong doing it. Nick Zito has one two Belmonts before, and this horse loves the additional distance.

3. Figures to be the key to pacing this race. He is running out of the 11 slot just like he did at the Preakness and it's clear his strategy will be to not run from behind. The only question is can he sustain the pace for the extended length of the Belmont?

If you want to take a chance on a long shot...try these horses:
Stately Victor, Game on Dude, or Drosselmeyer.
