After 22 seasons, the man they called Junior has called it a career. Known for his backwards hat and love of the game, Ken Griffey Jr. is a sure fire Hall of Famer. Griffey hit 630 home runs which is good enough for fifth on the all time list (4th if you take out Barry Bonds the juice head). Junior also won 10 Gold Gloves and will always be remembered for his acrobatic catches in Centerfield. There are only two men to have hit over 600 dingers and won 10 Gold Gloves: Junior and Willie Mays...that's pretty good company. In addition to these amazing feats, Griffey also started 13 All Star games.
The only question about Griffey is what if. After staying relatively healthy for the first ten years of his career, Griffey was plagued with injuries over the second half of his career. We are only left to wonder how many Home Runs Griffey would've hit, how many Gold Gloves he would've won, and how many hits he would've had. All that being said, I will always remember Junior as being the best player I've ever seen play. I always loved watching him play and how much fun he had playing the game. Thanks for the memories Junior
